Simplifying Assessment Complexity with Many Valued Logics
نویسنده
چکیده
Current tendencies in high education world wide include merging of several existing small and medium small educational institutions in considerably bigger entities. Such processes generate both administrative and pedagogical challenges. In this work we address a question related to how to provide better automated assessment of students’ knowledge, obtained skills, and terms understanding if it is possible to use learning materials developed by different educators.

Truth Values and Connectives in Some Non-Classical Logics
The question as to whether the propositional logic of Heyting, which was a formalization of Brouwer's intuitionistic logic, is finitely many valued or not, was open for a while (the question was asked by Hahn). Kurt Gödel (1932) introduced an infinite decreasing chain of intermediate logics, which are known nowadays as Gödel logics, for showing that the intuitionistic logic is not finitely (man...
متن کاملTutorial: Complexity of Many-Valued Logics
Like in the case of classical logic and other non-standard logics, a variety of complexity-related questions can be asked in the context of many-valued logic. Some questions, such as the complexity of the sets of satisfiable and valid formulas in various logics, are completely standard; others, such as the maximal size of representations of many-valued connectives, only make sense in a many-val...
متن کاملOn some many-valued abstract logics and their Epsilon-T-style extensions
Logical systems with classical negation and means for sentential or propositional self-reference involve, in some way, paradoxical statements such as the liar. However, the paradox disappears if one replaces classical by an appropriate non-classical negation such as a paraconsistent one (no paradox arises if the liar is both true and false). We consider a non-Fregean logic which is a revised an...
متن کاملLewis Dichotomies in Many-Valued Logics
In 1979, H. Lewis shows that the computational complexity of the Boolean satisfiability problem dichotomizes, depending on the Boolean operations available to formulate instances: intractable (NP-complete) if negation of implication is definable, and tractable (in P) otherwise [17]. Recently, an investigation in the same spirit has been extended to nonclassical propositional logics, modal logic...
متن کاملProof theory for locally finite many-valued logics: Semi-projective logics
We extend the methodology in Baaz and Fermüller (1999) [5] to systematically construct analytic calculi for semi-projective logics-a large family of (propositional) locally finite many-valued logics. Our calculi, defined in the framework of sequents of relations, are proof search oriented and can be used to settle the computational complexity of the formalized logics. As a case study we derive ...
